About Us

Dr. John Olsofka is a Kentucky native and a graduate of the University of Louisville. Dr. Olsofka is Board Certified with the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Olsofka is a Clinical Instructor for the University of Louisville’s School of Medicine with a research focus in the field of advanced laparoscopy. Dr. Olsofka has had extensive involvement with multiple laparoscopic hernia repair clinical studies.

For twenty years, Dr. Olsofka has trained hundreds of surgeons on laparoscopic inguinal, nissen fundoplication, hiatal hernia, and ventral hernia repair procedures. He is internationally recognized for his experience with advanced minimally invasive hernia repair and has lectured on the subject throughout the United States and abroad. He has conducted monthly on-site training.

Dr. Olsofka has an additional interest in laparoscopic bariatric surgery and pioneered one of the first Lap-Band® only bariatric programs in the country. He currently serves as the Director of Bariatrics at U of L Mary and Elizabeth Hospital
